Exam stress

In a 2023 survey of 185 four-year American colleges, only 4.9% called SAT or ACT scores a factor of "considerable importance" in admissions. High school grades mattered to 74 to 77% of them. And yet the most selective schools in the country, MIT, Harvard, Yale, have spent the last four years quietly reinstating the very test requirement everyone else was dropping. Meanwhile, in South Korea, one exam day stops aircraft from landing, delays the opening bell of the stock market, and pushes back office start times nationwide. Three countries have built entirely different machines to answer the same question: how much should one test decide?
